Why does my Sub-Zero water dispenser show H2 LO?
On Sub-Zero Built-In (BI) refrigerators with an internal dispenser, "H2 LO" means the dispense limit was reached: over 1 gallon in 15 minutes, or the water valve was on for 150 seconds. Dispensing stops for 45 minutes. Sub-Zero's manual says pressing the water paddle 5 times in 20 seconds bypasses the pause.
What the code means
Sub-Zero's BI Series service manual lists H2 L0 as over 1 gallon of water dispensed within 15 minutes, or the water valve energized for 150 seconds. "H2 LO" shows for 5 seconds and 3 chimes sound when the water paddle is pressed. Dispensing is interrupted for 45 minutes, or you can press the water paddle 5 times in 20 seconds to bypass it.
Safe homeowner checks
- Wait 45 minutes, or press the water paddle 5 times within 20 seconds to bypass the pause.
- Make sure nothing is pressing against the water paddle.
- Watch for water where it shouldn't be. If you see a leak, turn off the water supply to the refrigerator.
- Do not open panels, test wiring, or replace parts yourself.
When to call a technician
Call a technician if H2 LO appears when you have not dispensed much water, if water keeps running, or if you see a leak. Water valve and control diagnosis is technician-only work.
