Question 1

Why is my central AC running but blowing warm air in Los Angeles?

Accepted Answer

The most common causes on our LA calls are a failed capacitor or contactor at the outdoor unit, a frozen evaporator coil from a dirty filter or weak blower, and low refrigerant from a leak. A technician measures pressures and amp draw to tell which one it is.

Question 2

How much does it cost to fix central air in LA?

Accepted Answer

On our invoiced Los Angeles central cooling repairs over the last 12 months, the middle half cost between $680 and $1,490. The exact price depends on the part, the refrigerant type and access to the unit.

Question 3

My outdoor unit is on the roof. Can you still service it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Rooftop condensers are the most common setup we see in Los Angeles. Tell us when you book if roof access needs a tall ladder or a hatch so the technician arrives ready.

Question 4

Water is dripping from my ceiling near the AC. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Turn the system off at the thermostat to stop more condensate from forming, then call us. It is usually a clogged condensate line or a cracked drain pan in the attic. See also fixing a leaking condensate drain.

Question 5

Do you repair systems that still use R-22 refrigerant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can repair and recharge R-22 systems, but because R-22 is no longer produced it costs more. We will show you both the repair price and a replacement option so you can decide.

Question 6

Can a dirty filter really stop my AC from cooling?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A clogged filter starves the evaporator coil of airflow until it freezes. Replace the filter, switch the system to Fan only for a couple of hours to thaw the coil, and call us if cooling does not return.
