Microwaves are a standard item in almost every home and make reheating leftovers or cooking food quick and simple. But when your microwave isn't working properly, it can be a big hassle. Before buying a new microwave, you can attempt a few potential repairs if your current one isn't heating.
Before we discuss the main issues, it's important to note that microwaves are extremely dangerous to fix since their capacitors continue to store thousands of volts of electricity even after you unplug them. The risk of electric shocks is therefore very significant. Call a qualified professional rather than attempting to fix some of these issues if you don't have the necessary training.
Here are some of the most common microwave faults.

Microwave is not heating food

The magnetron in your microwave is probably broken if it isn't heating your food. A burned-out magnetron must be replaced because it cannot be fixed.
A malfunctioning door switch or a broken diode are examples of other problems that can prevent food from heating.

Microwave is not turning on

The power plug should be checked first to ensure that it is plugged in and switched on. Following that, you should check the circuit breaker. Additionally, try plugging it into a different power outlet to see whether it still functions; if so, the power outlet is defective and has to be replaced. If the power source isn't the issue, you'll need to use a voltmeter to test the door switch for continuity; if it doesn't, it needs to be replaced. Additionally, make sure the door closes properly to make sure the door latch component is functioning properly.

Microwave light is out

The microwave light helps you monitor the food you're cooking and lets you know when it's on. Depending on the model of your microwave, you can change the light bulb with varying degrees of ease. To replace your microwave light, however, you might need to completely open the case. If you are certain that the bulb is functioning properly, your control board may also be at fault.

Microwave plate not spinning

When this occurs, the food or beverage you heat in the microwave may not cook completely or perhaps at all. When your plate stops functioning properly, it is typically because one of the parts of the rotating assembly is malfunctioning.
To fix it, you must first make sure the plate is not damaged in any way before looking at the guide rollers that are located beneath the plate. If either of those two parts is damaged, you must replace it; if neither is damaged, the drive motor may be the source of the issue. It will be necessary to repair or replace the drive motor if it is damaged.

Microwave making noise

You must examine for a variety of probable issues if your microwave is generating a loud or odd noise (buzzing, humming, scraping, static).
  1. The drive motor that powers the rotation of the plate may be broken.
  2. There could be an electrical humming or buzzing if the magnetron is broken. The good news is that replacement magnetrons are available.
  3. The rotating plate may generate noise as it moves because of the drive coupler or roller guide. By looking for food or dirt clinging to the parts, you can fix this yourself.
  4. When operating, a damaged or obstructed cooling fan located at the back of the microwave can make a loud noise.
You restore kitchen convenience by resolving frequent microwave problems. Understanding and fixing these issues can ensure that your microwave runs efficiently, saving you time and hassle. Therefore, arm yourself with the knowledge to solve problems and keep your culinary adventure on course. A working microwave puts an infinite supply of tasty, quick meals in your fingers.
