What size wire do I need to run a 220v welder?
Most welders need a 40-amp breaker and 8-gauge wire to operate; however, those with input amps of 40 to 50 will require a 50-amp circuit breaker and 6-gauge wiring. Smaller welders only need 10-gauge wire coupled with a 30-amp circuit breaker.
