When should I clean my air ducts?
Cleaning your air ducts regularly may help keep the air in your house safe. Particularly so in the following four situations:
- Your ductwork may need to be cleaned if you've renovated your house, mainly if there was asbestos abatement, lead paint removal, or substantial dust.
- Remove any animals you find dwelling or nesting in your ductwork, then clean the ducts and HVAC system. Rodents go indoors during the winter, increasing the likelihood of vermin infestations.
- An antibacterial solution can clean the contaminated region of your ducting if mold is growing there.
- A thorough air duct cleaning may be the answer if your vent holes are blocked with trash, and your house will also smell better.
